Privacy Policy
MoneyZap ("we", "us") respects your privacy and processes your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name and email, provided when you sign up (via email or a Google/X sign-in).
- Financial information you enter — income, expenses, debts, investments, insurance, and goals you choose to capture.
- Bank statements you upload — to categorise transactions and build your budget.
- Usage data — basic technical information needed to run and secure the service.
How we use it
We use your information only to provide the education tools — to run calculations, categorise transactions, and show you your figures. We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
We use trusted processors to operate MoneyZap, including authentication (Google Firebase), hosting (Vercel), our database (Neon), and AI processing of uploaded statements (Anthropic). Information shared with them is limited to what is needed to provide the service.
Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest and never store your banking login credentials. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Your rights (POPIA)
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact our Information Officer (details below).
Retention
We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as needed to meet legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
